Emergency response teams in DeKalb County responded to a report of a vehicle on its side in the 5600 block of County Road 16 in Butler early Tuesday morning.
First units on the scene arrived shortly after 1 a.m. and didn't see anyone around the vehicle. A Noble County drone team assisted, and quickly found a man lying in a field. The man was identified as Zeke Houser, age 21 of Hamilton, Indiana.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department says that Houser was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle. Reports indicate that he drove off the south side of the road, and also knocked out a power pole. His vehicle overturned and came to rest on its side next to a corn field.
Houser was taken to an area hospital and treated for arm pain and facial bruising. Investigators believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Noble County Sheriff's Department, Butler Police Department, Waterloo Marshal’s Office, Hamilton Marshal’s Office, and the Butler Fire Department.
