Effinger Sentenced in 2017 Lake Gage Boating Incident

Sentencing has been handed down to the The 21 year old woman who was the driver of the boat that spun out of control on Steuben County's Lake Gage last summer.
Steuben County Superior Court Judge William Fee sentence Dominique Effinger, to 180 days of home detention for a single felony charge of Criminal Recklessness. Effinger pleaded guilty in late June.
Here charges were related to the July 2017 incident that threw ten people into the water.
At the time of the accident a police investigation concluded that Effinger was drunk when she turned the watercraft too hard. As a result, she lost control of the boat. Two people were air lifted to a Fort Wayne hospital after the accident, and several others were injurred.
In addition, Effinger must also pay restitution to the victims of the incident. Her insurance company has already paid over $110,000. That number could grow as victims continue treatment.
