Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb Monday appointed LaGrange County Deputy Prosecutor William Walz to the Circuit Court bench.
Walz will fill the remainder of retiring Judge Scott VanDerbeck’s term.
A LaGrange County Republican caucus nominated Walz to the Circuit Court position on the November ballot last month.
VanDerbeck retired June 1st and Senior Judge G. David Laur of Noble County was appointed interim judge by the governor.
Walz joined the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office in 2016 after serving previously as a deputy prosecutor in Marion, Noble, Shelby and Allen counties.
He will be sworn in on a date to be determined.
