LaSata Running For Michigan State Senate Seat

A candidate has announced their intention to run for a seat in the Michigan State Senate.

Republican State Representative Kim LaSata has announced her candidacy for the 21st State Senate District, which includes St. Joseph, Cass and Berrien Counties.

LaSata says she is running for this seat in the Senate because the current Senator, John Proos, can not seek re-election due to term limits.

LaSata says she made the announcement after a great deal of encouragement from her family, friends and community leaders. She says she also spoke with Proos about running for the State Senate.

LaSata says she made the announcement after a great deal of encouragement from her family, friends and community leaders. She says she also spoke with Proos about running for the State Senate, and feels being a Senator will give her the chance to help more people.

While declaring her candidacy for the State Senate, LaSata also announced the endorsements of Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey, former State Senator Cameron Brown and Southwest Michigan College President Dr. David Mathews of Cass County. They will also serve as LaSata For Senate Campaign Co-Chairs.

LaSata currently serves as the State Representative of the 79th Michigan House District, which takes in multiple cities and townships in Berrien County. If elected to the Michigan Senate, LaSata says she will continue to follow her conservative values.

Among her top legislative priorities if elected to the Senate will be to achieve meaningful auto no-fault reform, giving Michigan families much needed tax relief and building a business environment that will attract good, high paying jobs to Southwest Michigan.
