Fresh off his visit to Trine University, U.S. Senator Todd Young joined Senator Joe Donnelly on the Senate floor to honor National Police Week and speak on their bipartisan Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act, on Wednesday.

According to Donnelly’s press office, the legislation would help law enforcement agencies establish mental health services for officers.

Senator Todd Young said Tuesday that the bill would work with appropriate health agencies to offer opportunities for mental health and wellness care if officers need it.

The bill has the support of many police organizations like the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and the National Association of Police Officers.

The legislation passed the Senate unanimously on Tuesday, and will now go to the House to be voted on, before landing on the President’s desk to be signed.
