An accident shut down an area in Defiance as both lanes of Baltimore Road, near the Highway 24 exit ramp, were closed while crews cleared the scene of a semi crash.
Witnesses told officers that Steven Bean of Indianapolis, was eastbound on U.S. 24 and drove off the left side of the overpass. The trailer was carrying general freight. Bean was taken to ProMedica Defiance Regional, and was then flown to a Toledo Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.
Railroad traffic was stopped for about two hours as crews cleaned up the wreckage. The crash remains under investigation by various officials.
