Wednesday, February 24, 2021

HOWARD TOWNSHIP – Three people were injured in a crash in Cass County's Howard Township.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department says Peggy Raschke of Niles had turned from Huntley Road onto Yankee Road Tuesday morning, but forgot her right turn signal was still on. Samantha Butler of Galien was going to cross Yankee Road from Carberry Road and continue driving south.

Butler says she saw Raschke's turn signal activated and thought Raschke was in the process of turning. Butler pulled out from where she was at and was struck on the driver's side by Raschke's vehicle.

Butler's two children and Raschke all suffered non life threatening injuries in the incident. The children were taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital and Raschke was taken to Lakeland Niles Hospital.

Everyone was wearing their safety belts. The incident is still under investigation.
