Holcomb Directs Flags at Half-Staff in Memory of 500K Americans Taken by COVID-19
Tuesday, February 23, 2021

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is directing flags across the state to be flown at half-staff in memory of the more than 500,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19. The directive follows the proclamation from President Joe Biden that flags should be lowered to half-staff from now until sunset Friday.

President Biden addressed the nation Monday evening, offering sympathy to those who have lost loved ones and encouraging the nation to stand strong and unite in the effort to defeat the virus. The president and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden observed a moment of silence shortly after the address.

Governor Holcomb's order applies to state properties in the Hoosier state. He is asking businesses and residents to take similar action.
