Emergency Alert Issued Monday Reminds Michigan Residents To Mask Up
Tuesday, July 14, 2020

An Emergency Alert was issued on Monday afternoon throughout the state of Michigan. In a system that is primarily used in situations of child abductions and weather related issues, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and state officials decided to issue a message of a different sort.

In relation to Whitmer's executive orders in regards to wearing a mask, the alert reminded residents that wearing face coverings are required in public indoor and crowded outdoor settings to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

It also reminded businesses that they must refuse entry to service for those who are not wearing face coverings with limited exception.

Many across the state felt that an alert of such nature was a misuse of the alert system, as several Michigan counties and businesses have cited that they will not enforce the governor's order.
