Coronavirus Claims Lakeland Correctional Inmate

It was announced on Wednesday that a Lakeland Correctional Facility prisoner has died after testing positive for the COVID-19 virus.

According to Michigan Department Of Correction spokesman Chris Gautz, 73-year-old Warren Lee Wright passed away Tuesday at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson. Wright is the second Michigan D.O.C. prisoner to die from COVID-19.

Wright was one of 46 prisoners at Lakeland who have tested positive for coronavirus. There have been seven negative tests and results from two tests are pending. In addition, the D.O.C. says 15 staff members at Lakeland have tested positive for the virus.
