Mayor Hickman Reads State of the City Address at Common Council

The Angola Common Council heard the State of the City address from Mayor Hickman on Monday evening.

Mayor Hickman presented Staff Sergeant Michael Joshua Ross with a proclamation for his services in Kuwait for 13 months where he received an Army achievement medal for outstanding performance for the 3rd military information support battalion. The Mayor proclaimed Monday, February 17, 2020 as Staff Sergeant Michael Joshua Ross day as part of the Homecoming for Heroes Program.

In his State of the City address. Hickman outlined growth within the Parks Department programming, credited the achievements of the Mayor’s Arts Council including over $20,000 in regional funding raised, highlighted the investments in parks and streets as well as several maintenance projects in the water and wastewater departments. He concluded by looking forward to potential developments in 2020 and improving the gateway to Angola on I69 and US20 amongst several other points of emphasis including childcare, school enrollment, and housing developments.

The Common Council will meet again on Monday March 2, 2020
