Butler Area Running Out of Space For More Housing
Wednesday, September 18, 2019

The city of Butler is running out of room for new housing to be developed in the Northwest corridor according to City Planner, Steve Bingham.

As stated at Monday's city council meeting, Bingham says that there is only one remaining lot in the Chapman Trails Phase 2 section that was platted in 2006. On top of that, all 16 lots of Chapman Trails Phase 1 platted in 1998 are spoken for.

The city expects to expand housing with industrial growth due to the new gas line that runs underneath the Norfolk Southern Railroad. Forest River is expected to expand in 2020 and bring even more jobs to the Butler area. Bingham hopes to find a solution to the housing before the industrial expansion really begins in the area.
